Stay at home dads get hobbies, sometimes involving fire. So after Michael got the kids to nap he lit it up. The sights, sounds, smells, and taste kept him coming back for more. The fire called at him, he answered...and there was no turning his back.
The first roasting shack was simple and just had to work. Alone in the Yukon wild he would practice the craft until it was ready to share.
Today, Firebean roasts in Yukon Territory the same way it's always been. Every batch is still guided by fire, experience, and a love of the Authentic, Wild & Untamed
A note from The Firebean founder
I love telling this story - the early days were a complete blunder...
So my first batch actually caught fire (you know...a special dark roast not even my mom could love) - but in that fiery moment of failure I had found THE THING I wanted to do.
So day after day I showed up - a student of the fire. Splitting the wood, stoking the flames, listening and learning. For nearly a decade alone in a shack I would practice until the coffee was perfect and I was ready to share it.
Among many things Firebean is a reminder. To lean into the things that get you stoked. It's proof that the most delicious things happen when you follow your fire.
